About this video: This video will show you how to find your .minecraft folder on Minecraft Java Edition. Why would you need to find your .minecraft folder? Well, your .minecraft folder has all of the files you could ever want in regards to Minecraft. From your Minecraft worlds and resource packs to the mods you install in Minecraft to even the shaders packs you install in Minecraft, everything in regards to Minecraft Java Edition on your PC is held in your .minecraft folder, so let’s go ahead and show you where your .minecraft folder is on your computer!
Luckily, finding your .minecraft folder is super easy. So easy in fact, we thought about not making a video on it! To find your Minecraft files, hit the start menu button in the bottom right or top right of your computer. Then, type ‘Run’ once you have the start menu open. It should start searching, and a ‘Run’ app should appear.
Open the Run app, and you will see a text box inside it. It this text box, you want to type %appdata%. That’s it. Just type %appdata%. When you do, go ahead and click enter. Now, this won’t take you directly to your .minecraft folder, but it gets you 90% of the way there.
After typing %appdata% in the run app and hitting enter, you will be in your Roaming folder. On your screen, you will actually see your .minecraft folder. It should be right there at the top. Double click on it, and you have now found all of your Minecraft files! You have found your .minecraft folder! Here you can back up Minecraft files, change your Minecraft worlds, and really do anything else you want with your Minecraft files!
