About this video: This video is our complete admin guide on using DiscordSRV to talk in Minecraft chat using Discord. Not only that, you can also link Discord accounts to Minecraft accounts using DiscordSRV unlocking all sorts of awesome things for your Minecraft server. In this video though, we show you the basics of getting DiscordSRV setup. Specifically, we show you how to link Minecraft chat and your Minecraft server console to Discord allowing you to view both from Discord and keep a log of your server that never goes away. Thus, without anymore delay, here is how to add Discord SRV to your Minecraft server!

The first step of getting DiscordSRV is downloading it and installing it on your server. You can find the DiscordSRV download link above. Once you are there, click the download button, and the download should begin in a few seconds. You will need to keep/save the file depending on your browser. Once DiscordSRV is downloaded, you need to install it by dropping it in your server’s plugin folder. Finally, restart your server.

Now, let’s setup DiscordSRV. First, click the ‘Setup Your Discord App’ link in the description above. Next, click New Application. Name your application anything you want, and create it. Next, click the ‘Bot’ tab, click ‘add bot’, and confirm. You can set your bot icon on this page. This will show on your server publicly.

From here, we need to setup the bot’s permissions. Enable the SERVER MEMBERS INTENT option under "Privileged Gateway Intents" on the bot tab, and click all the boxes under the ‘Bot Permissions’ option. Save these changes, and we can grab the token for the bot. Just scroll up the page and click the ‘copy’ button under Token.

Go back to your Minecraft server, and open up the DiscordSRV config file. You will see a BotToken section. Pate the token you copied earlier into this section. You will also need your client ID/application ID which is under the general information tab. Copy and paste that here as well.

In the config option labeled Channels, input the Discord channel ID you want to be for your chat under "global"- you can set more channels up here and their linked channels. To obtain a channel ID, go to the cog on the bottom left of Discord, go to the appearance tab, enable developer mode. From there you can right-click a channel, user, or role and there will be a "Copy ID" option. Get the ID for the channel you will be using for the chat. Make sure your bot can read and write text in this channel as well. You can also add the channel ID for the config if you want that to go to Discord. We recommend doing this.

From there, you can look at the rest of the DiscordSRV config files and make changes as needed. It is all very well documented. Finally, restart your server, and DiscordSRV will start sending your chat and console logs to Discord!

Congrats! You now know how to add DiscordSRV to your Minecraft server. If you have any questions about setting up DiscordSRV, let us know in the comment section below, and if we did help you add DiscordSRV to your server, give this video a thumbs up and subscribe! Thank you in advance!
