The first thing you need to know about creating a survival Minecraft server is that you should be using Paper to host that server. The reason is that Paper is the best lag-reducing server software out there for survival Minecraft server. It allows you to configure everything from entity spawn rates to render distance to even anti-XRay. Paper is a must have for your Minecraft survival server.
After you have a Paper server, you will be able to install plugins on it. This is where you can really start making your survival Minecraft server your own, and one of the main this we do in this video is recommend plugins. As much as we would like to show you how to use all of these plugins, this video would be 7 hours long if we did that. Luckily, we do have guides for a lot of the survival Minecraft plugins.
There are a few categories of plugins. The first is must-have plugins. These are things every survival sever should have no matter what. The first is EssentialsX. It adds in warps, economy, homes, and so much more. The Vault plugin is required for EssentialsX to work properly, so that is here as well. The next must-have plugin is LuckPerms. This is a permission plugin for survival Minecraft servers that allows you to setup ranks and manage permissions quickly and easily.
After must-have plugins, let’s look at plugins that focus on giving players more things to do. MCMMO adds in cool rankings players can get while doing tasks game. Jobs Reborn allows players to complete in-game tasks like mining, farming, etc. and get paid for those tasks. Lastly, ShopGUIPlus adds in a GUI shop that players can buy and sell to. This is great for giving players access to items.
The next category is grief. Grief Prevention allows players to make claims and only allow people they want to build in the claim with a trust system. CoreProtect logs every block and player action on your server allowing you to see who did what when and rollback grief to make it like it never happened. World Edit and World Guard can also help grief with survival server spawn.
