How to get animated Game background on PS5 (Easy Guide)
9To get animated backgrounds on your PS5, follow these steps:
Update Your System: Ensure your PS5 is running the latest system software. Go to Settings, System, System Software, System Software Update and Settings, Update System Software to check for and install updates. Animated backgrounds were introduced in a phased rollout starting around April 2025, so an update may be required.
Access the Welcome Hub: From the PS5 home screen, navigate to the Welcome Hub, previously the Explore tab. This is where animated backgrounds can be applied.
Change Background: In the Welcome Hub, locate the Backgrounds option. You can do this by:
Pressing the Change Background button in the upper-right corner of the Welcome screen, next to Edit Widgets and Change Preset.
Alternatively, select the Backgrounds tab within the Welcome Hub.
Select Animated Backgrounds: Choose the From Games category.
If the update has rolled out to your account, you’ll see animated backgrounds for games like Ghost of Yotei, God of War Ragnarok, Stellar Blade, Horizon, Demon’s Souls, Days Gone, and Astro Bot, among others. Select the desired background and apply it.
Check for Availability: The rollout of animated backgrounds has been gradual, and not all users receive them simultaneously. If you don’t see the From Games option or new backgrounds, your account may not have access yet. Check periodically, as Sony is expanding availability.
