How to Adjust Video Transfer Rate on PS5 to -1 or -2 for Screen Flickering (Best Method)
If you are experiencing screen flickering or other video issues with your PS5, a common troubleshooting step is to adjust the "4K Video Transfer Rate." This setting can reduce the HDMI bandwidth, which may resolve compatibility problems between your console and TV.
How to Adjust the Video Transfer Rate
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon ⚙ ️ ).
Scroll down and select Screen and Video.
On the left-hand menu, select Video Output.
Scroll down to the 4K Video Transfer Rate option.
By default, this setting is set to "Automatic." To fix flickering, you should try changing it to -1.
If the issue persists, go back to the same setting and change it to -2.
What Do the Settings Mean?
Automatic: The PS5 automatically detects the best video transfer rate based on your TV's capabilities.
-1: This setting limits the video output to improve stability, which can fix flickering. It may, however, limit some high-end features like 4K at 120Hz and 4K RGB/YUV444 DeepColor.
-2: This is the most restrictive setting and further limits the video output bandwidth. It should be used as a last resort if -1 doesn't solve the problem, as it can significantly impact picture quality and features.
