How to Turn Off PS5 Controller with 2 Different Ways! (Best Method)
3There are two primary ways to turn off your PS5 controller, both of which are simple and effective.
Method 1: The Quickest and Best Method
This method is ideal for when you're done playing and want to conserve the controller's battery life.
Press and hold the PlayStation (PS) button (the circular button in the center of the controller) for approximately 10 seconds.
The light bar on the controller will flash and then turn off, indicating that the controller has been powered down.
This method is the fastest way to turn off the controller manually without navigating through any menus.
Method 2: Turning Off via the Console Menu
This method is more controlled and allows you to also turn off the console itself if you're finished playing.
Press the PlayStation (PS) button once to bring up the Control Center at the bottom of the screen.
Navigate to the Power icon (the small circle with a line through it, usually on the far right of the menu).
From the power menu, select Turn Off DualSense Controller.
The controller will immediately turn off. You can also select "Turn Off PS5" or "Enter Rest Mode" from this menu.
Important Notes
Controller Timeout: The PS5 controller has a built-in inactivity timer. If the controller remains idle for about 10 minutes, it will automatically turn itself off to save battery life.
Wired Connection: If your controller is connected to the PS5 via a USB cable, it will not power off using these methods. To turn it off, you will need to physically unplug the cable from the controller.
