How to Lock Applications on iPhone with Face ID or Passcode (IOS 18 or Above)
To lock apps on your iPhone using Face ID or a passcode (available on iOS 18 or later), follow these steps:
Locate the App:
Find the app you want to lock on your Home Screen or in the App Library (swipe left past all Home Screen pages to reach the App Library).
Enable App Locking:
Long-press the app icon until a menu appears.
Tap Require Face ID (or Require Touch ID or Require Passcode, depending on your device’s settings).
Choose Require Face ID (or equivalent) to lock the app without hiding it, or Hide and Require Face ID to lock and move it to the Hidden folder in the App Library.
Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to confirm.
Access the Locked App:
Tap the app to open it. You’ll need to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode each time you access it.
If you chose Hide and Require Face ID, go to the App Library, scroll to the Hidden folder (with a crossed-out eye icon), tap it, and authenticate to view and open the app.
Manage Locked Apps:
To unlock an app, long-press the app icon (on the Home Screen or in the Hidden folder), select Don’t Require Face ID (or equivalent), and authenticate.
You can also check locked apps in Settings - Apps - Locked Apps or Hidden Apps (authenticate to view the list).
