Photoshop documents or PSD files can only be saved up to 2GB. When a Photoshop document is bigger than the allocated 2GB an error will occur. The solution to saving a large Photoshop file is to use the PSB format. A PSB file will work the same way as a PSD, however the file contents can be bigger and exceed the 2GB file size.

The files size error tends to occur in Photoshop projects that have a larger resolution. High resolution files require more information to make up the image,this results in bigger file sizes.
