How to Timeout Someone on Discord with a Role
▶▶▶ UPDATED TUTORIAL: https://youtu.be/D2cJlYjAcpc
The channel permissions allow you to create a role that can't send messages in text channels, or speak in voice channels. This will effectively timeout a user in Discord and prevent any issues occurring.
A timeout role is ideal for moderation as it prevents the need for Moderators or Admins to have permissions to kick and ban. With less people being able to remove members from your server you can rest assured knowing that you won't wake up one day to your server being empty of members.
To timeout someone on Discord all a moderator will need to do is give the role to a user. Once the role has been given it can always be removed to reinstate the usual settings.
In order for the timeout to work the "Send Messages" permission will need to be set through the everyone role. You can still block a user from being able to view a channel and only enabling this option for a member role. This will work with verification systems and prevent new users from viewing the entire server without a role.
