HP Stream Mini Gaming - GTA V Test on 2Gb HP Stream Mini
HP Stream Mini Gaming - GTA V Test on 2Gb HP Stream Mini. While it does an admirable job attempting to play GTA V, the Stream Mini's 2Gb base memory is too low to maintain a consistent framerate - or load graphics & game assets properly. The game is installed on the USB3.0 WD Elements external hard drive you see resting on top of the Mini.
As the Mini does not have enough memory to run the game, the little PC uses a Virtual Memory paging file on the SSD hard drive. This means that, as needed (meaning all the time), the Mini is swapping chunks of memory with the hard drive - resulting in low framerates, large lag spikes in the FPS and missing sections of the game geometry (buildings, road textures, etc).
This is simply a test to demonstrate how NOT to expect to play the game and what happens with the game on a 2Gb PC with integrated graphics. I will be adding another 2Gb memory stick to the Mini and we will see the difference as we test the game with 4Gb coming up. :)
