48There aren't many Christmas games out there, but Konami snuck one onto the Nintendo 64 that many have since forgotten. Hybrid Heaven was a deeply flawed, extremely ambitious title that also happens to be set at the most wonderful time of year.

For those who haven't played Hybrid Heaven before, it may be surprising to hear that it has been a Christmas game all along. On the outside, it seems like a game about running through alien environments and piledriving monsters into the ground. Underneath it all, though, it's about spending the holiday with the ones you love.
Konami's ambitious attempt at melding genres together doesn't always work. The shooting is particularly ropey and the scenes where you need to navigate through environments show up significant issues with the camera and controls. Luckily, the storyline is bonkers and the battle mechanics are unique and extremely fun.
If you are looking for a Christmas game that's just a little bit different, you won't find anything else like Hybrid Heaven. It's definitely far from perfect, but you may still find yourself falling for it!
