Savage Warriors | PC Pugilism - Blast Processing
Fighting games were extremely popular in the mid-90s. The PC saw a variety of ports, but enjoyed very few high-quality exclusives. Was Savage Warriors a diamond in the rough, or just another oddity?

Street Fighter 2. Mortal Kombat. Killer Instinct. Primal Rage. There were many, many fighting game franchises in the 90s that took the industry by storm. For many reasons, though, PC owners had a harder time than console owners when it came to enjoying the genre.
That's likely why there were very few exclusive fighting game franchises for the PC. There are a few well-known ones, like FX Fighter and One Must Fall: 2097, but they are far and few between and generally regarded as leagues away from the true classics of the genre.
Savage Warriors is an interesting attempt to push some unique mechanics and presentation as a PC exclusive fighting game. It's not very successful, though. Between the strange graphics, the floaty animation and the awkward controls, the package never comes together to meet the ambitions of the developer.
