Turok: Battle of the Bionosaurs was a companion to one of the most impressive early Nintendo 64 games in the entire library. So how on earth could the humble Game Boy produce a game that evoked the same sort of atmostphere?

The Turok games on the Nintendo 64 really helped to show off what the significantly more powerful hardware could offer in terms of gameplay opportunities. Massive environments and advanced 3D effects were front and centre.

Of course, the Game Boy couldn't come close to Nintendo's new 64-bit behemoth, so in bringing Turok to the handheld the developers had to make some interesting choices.

The move to a sidescrolling perspective made sense, as it allowed them to retain the exploration and vertical gameplay that the series had become known for. Unfortuantely, it also retained the awkward platforming of it's parent version too. Still, this is a good handheld game and an interesting milestone in the Turok gaming legacy.
