This video will discuss three important considerations to consider when replacing a side wing rearview mirror on a Ford vehicle. 1) ensure that the replacement mirror has the same functionalities (options) as your original mirror (on my 2010 Ford Fusion SEL, the original side mirror had a puddle light and heated mirror functionality, whereas my replacement mirror did not. Because of this, the vehicle's mirror power connector did not match that of the replacement mirror, and since the connectors did not match, the installed replacement mirror has no power adjustments and instead has to be adjusted physically and manually by hand). 2) Before disassembling your door in order to install the side mirror, ensure that the window of said door is lowered, as disassembling a vehicle's door disconnects its electronic window controls, and if these controls are disconnected, the window can not be lowered afterwards to aid in your holding of and aligning both internal parts and external parts of the side mirror during installation - even the driver's side window controls will not function for the passenger side door should the passenger's window controls be disconnected. 3) Until the replacement mirror is fully installed, do not discard (throw away) any parts of the previous mirror (my replacement mirror came with a weatherproofing bladder which was much too thick to be installed underneath my mirror - the weatherproofing bladder from the original mirror had to be used in place).
