As Nigeria joins the rest of the World, to commemorate the International Women's Day, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)has affirmed it's commitment to deepening gender equality, representation, relevance, empowerment and a sense of belonging.

Chairman of the INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu gave this assurance in a message to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day at the Commission Headquarters in Abuja.

Prof Yakubu noted that inclusion has always been the vocal part of the commission,hence the interest for women, youths and person's with disabilities related activities.

The INEC Boss also disclosed some of the policies of the commission tinted towards that promoting inclusive representation of women, in the workplace.

Earlier, National Commissioner and Chairman Outreach and Partnership Committee, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, emphasised the need for government at all levels to implement the National Gender Policy of 35 percent of government employment.

On her part, Secretary of the Commission, Rose Oriaran- Anthony reeled out some of the achievements recorded by women in the commission.

The Theme for the 2024 International Women's Day is: Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.

High point of the event was the unveiling of a photo Book and commissioning of a Creche by the INEC chairman.
