Keep 1 Game, The Other 3 & THEIR SEQUELS Get Deleted From History!
32It's one thing to pick favorites when it comes to video games, it's another to put your favorite games up to not only be erased from history, but to have their sequels to also get deleted from history! But that's what we're going to do today, you get to keep 1 game, but the other 3 options are not only erased forever, but their sequels as well. Let's take a look because this was a hard decision for me to make!
The games:
Rock Man 2/Mega Man 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Kart
Rock Man and Mega Man are considered to be the best games in the Mega Man franchise, beloved by so many (although Jay from @SquarePegs prefers Mega Man 3 for some reason). This is an improvement over the original in every way: gameplay, music, level design, weapons, and bosses. But does this game deserve to make the cut?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the game that convinced me to buy a Sega Genesis, I really wanted to love this game, but as good as it is I actually prefer the original one. If Sonic 2 never existed, that means Sonic and Knuckles gets the axe, as does Sonic '06, and frankly that might be a a good example of addition by subtraction.
The Legend of Zelda is a game that not only launched a franchise but also created a genre. Not a true RPG, not a platformer, this is more of an action/adventure/puzzle game, and it is fantastic. However, there are games in the franchise that I didn't like and others I outright hate. I didn't like either N64 Zelda title, and my hatred of Breath of the Wild is Legendary. Would I be ok if I never played a Zelda game?
Finally, there's Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo. I loved this game and still do. I spent so much time playing against my friend Chris in his mom's den; we had terrific grudge matches. Not only did we race each other, but we also played a ton of the battle mode. Fast-forward to today, and we still play the Mario Kart franchise in my family. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe races between my daughters and me get heated!

Super Mario Kart
Not only do I have such amazing memories as a teenager with my friend Chris, but my daughters and I have had epic races. It's something I will always treasure and I dare say it us irreplaceable for me because of those reasons. Plus, it's just a damn great game and launched the concept of a karting game!
