Late-Game Minecraft 247 :: Deepslate Emerald Ore
The caves that we found yesterday are full of resources! We find two zombie dungeons, and many ores along the walls! In one of the branches, we find our first deepslate emerald ore, a block that is exceedingly rare! We end up at a mineshaft that leads to a giant ravine exposed to the surface above.
We fly back to the plains where we look for the cave system that we had found yesterday! For some reason, a wandering trader spawns in the caves, beside an underground lake! Unfortunately, he does not sell any dripleaves! Still, we buy some items from him.
The trader sips on an invisibility potion and we realise it is night! We sleep before storing away our items. Then, we light up the underground lake! There are some axolotls swimming around, but we do not see any rare purple ones!
Venturing into the caves, we find many dark areas but surprisingly little hostile mobs! That likely means that the mobs are deep underground, where there are probably more caves! We look around a bit more and chance upon a zombie dungeon! Wow!
So far, we are glad that mobs are scarce! This might change as we light up the dark areas though! We collect the loot from the dungeon. At first, we were thinking of leaving some items there, but we decide to take them with us in the end!
After mining some coal, we explore the caves further. We find a big cavern with flowing water and some emeralds on the ground! This tells us that we are within the mountain biome. Further ahead, some skeletons have spawned! We see a lava lake, which means we must be quite close to bedrock.
Lighting up the caves here, we come across some diamonds within a deposit of diorite! We must be incredibly lucky today, as we find another zombie dungeon just a short distance away! After looting the dungeon, we find another diamond vein at the side of a lava lake.
Since we have many villager traders, we do not really need the diamonds so we just leave them on the walls! In a side branch, we find our third diamond vein next to a dripstone stalagmite, and behind it, we see some emeralds embedded in deepslate!
What a find! Apparently, the deepslate emerald ore block cannot be found after 1.18, so it is going to be very rare. After making a sign to commemorate the occasion, we pick up the deepslate emerald ore with our Silk Touch pickaxe!
As we take our leave, we notice that the cave branch is quite pretty due to all the colourful minerals! Maybe it is time to consider setting up an underground base. We light up a few more dark spots, before coming to a lava lake! Here, we make a path of obsidian around the lake to find more caves.
While swimming up a stream of water, a creeper drops down from above! We notice that this cave links back to a section which we had visited before, and head back down so we can reconfigure the torches to point towards the exit.
Mining out a small tunnel beside the lava, we notice an extra crafting table in our inventory! We head back to our first deepslate emeralds to place the table there. We also add a sign to mark the location of the cave with all the pretty ores!
Finding a cave leading upwards, we go in to explore and meet a few zombies and skeletons! We come back to the water stream where we had seen our first emerald ore of the mining trip. Later, to cross a lava stream, we create a makeshift bridge!
At a dead end, we stop for a while to manage our inventory! We sort our items based on how rare they are before continuing. Across the lava lake, we make a bridge of obsidian to access another small cave section!
Closer to the surface, we hear some spiders and walk into a dark tunnel to investigate. Here, we find the entrance to a mineshaft! Before entering, we light up the surrounding area to ensure our safety. We do not want to get ambushed by creepers from behind!
We try to find the mineshaft again, but get a little lost! Eventually, we spot the wooden planks and head inside to see what awaits us. We find an opening to the night sky, which is great as it gives us an easy way out of the caves! A pillager has also spawned at the bottom of the ravine.
To prevent mobs jumping down from the surface, we sleep for the night before proceeding to look around! The pillagers seem to have the same idea, but we quickly take out these bandits with our sword. Further on, we find a cave spider spawner!
Thanks to the sunlight, the spawner is not very effective! We light it up and slay another pillager before going out to admire the view of the sky. We see another cave spider spawner on the floor above us, and take the risk to disable it as well!
Flying up to the surface, we find another pillager wandering around! We knock it back into the bottom of the ravine, before dispatching it along with some zombies. To end the episode, we fly to the surface where we get our bearings!
