Late-Game Minecraft 276 :: Bubble Column to the Surface
We spend some time in the ocean today, collecting spruce wood and kelp! After placing the kelp in the furnace to dry, we proceed with the construction of the mob farm! Today we build the bubble column which will bring the zombies to the surface, where they will turn into drowned before dropping down again!
Looking up the drop shafts, we notice that the shaft for the witches has some strange lighting! We build a tower of scaffolding to get up and investigate. We realise that the darker spots were due to a lack of corner blocks where the shaft intersects a cave!
We fill in the corners before flying to the surface to get a bucket of milk, as the particles from the bad omen effect are quite irritating! We free a bee from the spruce boat before cutting some honeycomb from the bee hives.
At our furnaces, we collect some smooth stone before flying to the giant spruce tree to chop it down! Since we are smelting so much stone, we also collect more fuel from the ocean by harvesting the kelp. We are attacked by several drowned!
To store all the kelp, we make use of our Shulker boxes! We also use the spruce boat to help us collect all the floating items on the water. We plant the spruce saplings down and slay more drowned in the sea. With almost a full box of kelp, we begin to dry them in our furnaces!
Storing away our items, we sleep for the night! In the morning, we harvest some glow berries before returning to the mob farm construction. After organising our items a little, we head to the bottom of the square pit and cover the water with smooth stone!
Since we frequently use the spider drop shaft to access the beacon pyramid room, we leave it open for now! We glide down the drop shaft for the drowned before flying out again. I guess we forgot about the items that we needed for the soul sand bubble column!
Back on the surface, we spot a rogue Enderman wandering around with a grass block! We try to get rid of it but it teleports away. Over on the nearby plains, a pillager patrol is here to attack us as well! They are no match for our Netherite sword. Their leader is nowhere to be seen though!
We head back to the chests at the deepslate base where we craft a fence block! We also need some fence gates to block the flow of water, so we return to the chests again. Now that we have the items that we need, we head down the bubble column shaft!
At the bottom of the shaft, we find the Enderman that we were trying to kill earlier! We finish the job that we had started before building a column of scaffolding. Placing down sea lanterns at regular intervals for light, we return to the bottom of the shaft where we start placing down smooth stone!
We dig out a small hole in order to place the fence! Due to the fence's hitbox which extends above itself by half a block, the fence will help the zombies to enter the bubble column without getting stuck. Alas, we made the floor too low so we tear down all the blocks before placing them again!
Once we are done, we place down some stone bricks along the walls! We put down a water source for a stream of flowing water before placing down the fence gates. The fence gates prevent the water in the bubble column from spilling everywhere!
Before we add in the bubble column, we build the walls of the shaft up to the surface! It is turning to night so we take a break to sleep. We also fly over to the furnaces to collect our dried kelp and put the furnaces to work again!
Returning to the drop shaft, we continue putting down the smooth stone blocks for the four walls. When we reach the surface, we clear a path that leads over to the drop shaft! Then, we place a water source at the top of the bubble column shaft so we have flowing water going to the bottom!
Heading back to the deepslate base, we store away some grass and dirt to clear out our inventory! We prepare some kelp before crossing the river back to the mob farm. Picking up a block of soul sand, we use some stone blocks to join the two shafts!
Then, we swim to the bottom of the bubble column shaft! Starting from the bottom, we place down a long line of kelp in order to convert the flowing water into source blocks. Following which, we remove the kelp and place in the soul sand to activate the bubbles!
We test out our water stream and quickly get pushed to the surface, where we pick up our kelp again! What a great success! We fly back to the furnaces where our kelp is still smelting, and we end the episode. It seems that we are almost done with the killing mechanisms of the mob farm!
