16 Colour Workbench 1.0-1.3 -- Was it possible??
In this video, I investigate whether the Amiga could have produced a 16 colour Workbench to rival Windows 1.0 and its 8 colour palette. Lets find out.

After noticing the WBPlane package in a recent Shot97 video, entitled: Workbench Pong - Amiga - Gaming Memories And Review - I decided to give it a shot. ahem.
The experiment was a success, but I was unable to get a solid Workbench without it eventually crashing. There is an updated Icon.Library on Aminet which I have used to similar effect, but I think it only works with WB2.0 and above (havent tried it). But using the vanilla Workbench 1.3 disk, it is clear to see that it was possible, but the software was just too unstable to use it. Of course when WB2.04 came along, they improved the Icon.Library and, and we could simply select a 16 colour display from the preferences Display options. But an A500/1000/2000 cant load WB 2 or 3 without the correct Kickstart.
16 Colour icons thanks to Lukozer youtube channel.
