Let's Play Crash Bandicoot 2 - Part 6: Reptiles in the Sewer?
We come to the final level of the second warp room, the first one with a double-digit number, level 10: The Eel Deal. It has a colored gem (which we haven't seen in a while) and introduces a new theme: sewer. Sewers that are plenty large enough to walk through and are well-lit would be rare in real life, but they're par for the course in video game. In this one, you make your journey through large sewer pipes, over metal grates, over floating platforms, across metal lattice-patterned ceilings, and through pools of water. The level name comes from the fact that most of the pools of water have electric eels in them, which will routinely turn the water yellow and electrified. Of course, you take damage if you touch the water when it's electrified. (There's an electrolysis experiment waiting to happen here somewhere...) Probably the trickiest part here isn't the electrified water, the rolling toxic waste barrels, or the spiked robot mice...it's the branching passages. There are two of them in this level, and while one path in each fork tends to be pretty short, one of the alternate paths has a secret area hidden behind a wall that leads to the Green Gem. About the only clue that it's even there is that there are Nitro crates in a place where no one could possibly hit them going through the level normally.
With ten crystals collected, we can now take on the second boss: the Komodo Bros. Komodo Joe and Komodo Moe are a couple of nasty samurai Komodo dragons, and they have a bit of teamwork going on: while Moe throws swords around the circular arena, Joe spins around like a lunatic. You're supposed to attack him once he stops spinning. It's a pretty easy boss, really; about the only part that might be even slightly challenging is the third round, where Moe puts a little more effort into actually aiming his swords. Still, though...the Komodo Bros. are certanly not as tough as they look.
