Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 2 - Part 20: Battle of the Barrels
Remember how I said the Lost World gets noticeable more difficult as you progress through it? Here's a perfect example. The third stage, 8-3 or 4-E, is Klobber Karnage. Why does it have that name? Because there are Klobbers up the wazoo here, including the nasty gray ones that knock extra life balloons off you. They're the ONLY enemies in the game that can make you lose multiple lives, by the way, and while they appeared in only one stage in the rest of the game, they seem to be all too common in this world. They can easily gang up on you, too. The real hard part of this stage, though, is the rotating barrels. Remember those timed barrels with the circular arrows on them that were introduced way back in 3-1? They (plus two non-timed ones) are all over the place in this stage as well, usually in combination with Zingers and spikes. Also, you'll want to have Diddy, or better yet, both characters at the end of the stage, because with Dixie alone, you won't be able to get the bonus. The next stage is another volcano/lava cavern/whatever you want to call it level, 8-4/5-E, Fiery Furnace. It has even more barrels than Klobber Karnage, but this time, you move them instead of rotating them. Sounds easy? It isn't. This stage does seem a bit less annoying than the previous one, though, if only because you can't have a gray Klobber knock you into a pit and make you lose two lives at once. Unfortunately, the bonus in this one is definitely the most annoying of the five...the bonus itself isn't insanely difficult, but it's very awkward to get to (you have to be thrown into a moving barrel by a Cat O' 9 Tails, although you may or may not be able to use a team throw instead), and if you fail, you're forced to hit the goal target. Needless to say, the bonus is at the very end of the stage, and failing it will make you have to redo the entire stage from the beginning to try again (and possibly just get thrown into the lava by the $%@!! Cat O' 9 Tails).
Four of six stages completed (counting the boss), so... seven and two-thirds worlds down, one-third to go? And the next stage is...um...uh-oh...
