Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 2 - Part 19: Lost in the Jungle, Lost on the Ice
We've beaten Kaptain K. Rool, so it's more or less the end of the game, and I could quit here and just show the credits sequence. However, there's still one more world to conquer...the Lost World. It has five normal stages and a boss, and you can access each of the former through one of the five Klubba's Kiosks in worlds 2-6. It has different music than the regular maps, too. I guess the Lost World would count as World 8...and worthy of the position, too, because most of its levels are dang hard, and they only get harder as you progress through the world. The first two stages aren't so difficult, but after that, they start to get nasty.
Now, about those first two stages...we start off with Jungle Jinx. It could count as 8-1 if you want to call it that, or perhaps 2-E (for Extra). It introduces a new theme that we'll see quite frequently in the Lost World: jungle. (I think the music for these stages is called Primal Rave.) Each Lost World stage has some sort of gimmick, however minor, associated with it, and this one has large rolling tires that you can jump on to bounce high into the air. The tires can damage you if they crush you against a wall, though, so watch out! The tires are placed in increasingly more difficult setups as the stage progresses, so you'll eventually be bouncing over spikes, Zingers, pits, and the like. 8-2 (or 3-E) isn't a jungle stage; it is called Black Ice Battle, and it is another ice cavern one. It is unique is that it is mostly vertically-oriented, but you're going down instead of up. The main danger in this one is just the combination of enemies and the level layout messing you up; there are a lot of sloped platforms around, and since it's an ice stage, that makes it quite easy to slide right into an enemy. I should mention, the Lost World stages all have only one bonus each, and that bonus gives you the level's DK coin, so at least you'll have only one secret to worry about finding. It makes sense that they did that, since there wouldn't be much use for Kremkoins once you've paid Klubba at all five kiosks. (DKC3 just made bonus coins get you to the first four stages, and then you'd have to find bonuses in those stages to access the fifth, which contained no bonuses at all.)
