Let’s Play HC Minecraft Take Three #14: Water, Water, Don’t go There

Whenever I build my main home in a survival world, I tend to place it close to a large body of water. Oceans are preferable, allowing me easy access to other landmasses directly from my home base as well as somewhere convenient to fish. It does have the minor downside of making your base vulnerable to drowned but that can be mitigated by a wall, a must-have staple that I’m sure to build at some point.
The main downside to building near water comes about when you decide to make underground rooms, for they can end up precariously close to it. One wrong block removed and suddenly it’s gushing in, pushing you about and knocking torches off the walls. It’s more of an annoyance then a true hazard, one that I always end up stumbling into due to my lack of planning. ‘If only I built my rooms a few blocks lower’ I think to myself as the room steadily floods.
