Edna has been told by the reverend to stay put while he investigates who was playing the organ. He also said that we shouldn’t mess with anything while he’s gone. He’s assured us that once he’s checked everything out, he’ll tell us all that he knows concerning Mattis. He’s already revealed that Mattis wasn’t in fact the one who committed the murder, confirming what Edna always believed in her heart, but we desperately need to know what actually happened.

We could heed his instructions and patiently wait for his return, but we all know that he’s not coming back. If we want to know the truth, we’re going to have to go out and find him, putting ourselves in danger in the process.

As light and silly as this game has been most of the time, there’s been a dark undertone to the plot. Little hints of it have shown up here and there but now they’re appearing more frequently. I fear it’s only a matter of time before there’s a huge and sudden shift in the narrative and no amount of preparation for it will be enough.
