Let's Play Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest - #08: Tier 5 Levels (2/2)
2In this part, I complete the last two stages of Tier 5. Here, we're at the pinnacle of this competition! These two levels (especially the first place winner) showcase how great fan-made Mega Man levels can be. The game isn't over yet after these two! I still have the Wily Fortress and Arena to complete.
First up is kumuhmuh's "Mega Man World", a level where Mega Man traverses through a re-imagining of a Super Mario World level. It's very authentic, with Mario enemies such as Goombas and the Koopa Troopas being slightly reworked to better fit with Mega Man gameplay while still maintaining their original defining characteristics. The graphics are basically taken straight out of the SMW game, and the level design, although altered to fit MM as well, still appears reminiscent to stages back in the former. My only real complaint are that some of the jumps are little bit too precise for MM to make. Overall, this is my third most favorite stage in the entire game.
Second is Redblupi's "Glass Man", a very polished Robot Master stage. This stage has custom stage graphics and aesthetics, appropriate soundtrack, great progression and conveyance of mechanics, a new creative enemy type that befits this level, good usage of enemy types (more on the limited size), level design that isn't too harsh on the player, accurate to the original games stage length, and an actual Robot Master fight at the end. There's tons of stuff to praise about this stage, and overall, this is the shining gem of all entrants in this competition. This is of course, my favorite stage in the entire game. Many kudos go to Redblupi and their brother for developing and submitting this stage. I cannot stress this enough.
