Wily Stage 3 is up, and it has no vehicle shenanigans, but it does have some slightly tricky platforming (and pretty cool music). It's a trip through purple corridors, over exploding platforms, through various enemies, over spikes and bottomless pits...but still, for a Wily stage, not that bad (even if it takes a lot longer to beat than either of the first two...). This one actually has a midboss: Bass, who seems to have gotten a hold of the evil energy. It doesn't seem to do him much good, though, considering he's actually easier to beat here than he was in his previous boss fight (in Mega Man 7). He shoots large purple shots at you, he causes several of them to rain down from the sky, he flies forward with a laser. None of those attacks are all that hard to dodge, though.

The second half of the stage is where more bottomless pits are...did I mention that you need to be careful about your timing and positioning on many of these jumps? Well, you do. The boss of this stage is the Green Devil, a throwback to the original Yellow Devil from the first game (you know, the boss that EVERYONE HATED). This is definitely one of the better devil bosses, though...it's a lot more fun to fight than many of them, and it has a better variety of attacks. It can still break apart and move the resulting pieces across the room, but they always follow a specific order and don't move very fast (although their large size can be problematic). It can also create a wave of goo that can be dodged by sliding to the opposite corner, and it can create green spikes from the floor. Its weakness is the Thunder Claw, but as usual, I didn't use it.

Only one short stage separates us from Dr. Wily...think we're making him nervous yet?!
