0Which is French for “He’s Baaaaack!” because the “Baby Muppets” trend continues on in full-force after we part ways with Kagu so that she can begin her miko training, only to immediately get a new partner in the form of a child-version of Waka- blond hair, wears the same outfit, carries around a flute, etc. But unlike Waka, who sprinkles French into his sentences and is always focused on the task at hand (except when he sits back and lets Ammy do all of the hard work), Kurow speaks like a stereotypical surfer dude/teenager and just wants to have fun.
Though while I may not be the biggest fan of the “Baby Muppets” aspect of the party members, I find Kurow to be an exception and feel that he’s actually an improved version of Waka. Don’t get me wrong, Waka’s a great character and all, but I can’t help but feel that he was a bit unnecessary. I mean, with the exception of using the Serpent Crystal to dispel the barrier at the Moon Cave and getting rid of the Curse Zone in Northern Ryoshima Coast, he arguably does nothing for the plot other than giving backhanded hints and serving as a catalyst for the events of the series. But with Kurow, he actually contributes to the overall plot- he actually directly helps Chibi both in the overworld and in battles while providing some good comedic relief.
