This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.

The previous game had three collectible keys within the levels, a small number of which are needed at certain points to unlock the next part of the game. They were often out of the way and difficult to get which, considering every level was effectively a race, made diverting to get them quite risky. Fortunately, collected keys remained collected whether you won or lost, allowing you to better focus on defeating your opponent the second time around.

The sequel has replaced keys with stars and you gain one star for completing each level. There is, however, another star that can be gained and that’s done by playing the second mode: the obstacle race. While war is a race to destroy the opponent’s castle gates first, the obstacle course is a literal race against your opponent. Obstacles are placed in your way each round that must be avoided on top of navigating the level as fast as possible in a best of five format. Picking the correct boulder for the course is essential here, for the right choice can unlock shortcuts that will make the race a lot simpler, provided you’re skilled enough to pull them off.

There’s also the boss levels, each of which grants you a star and a very desirable power-up upon defeating them. They’re much like how they were in the first game, only bigger and more awesome.
