Let’s Play Rock of Ages 2 #11: Happy Boulder, Having a Blast
This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
The number of opponents we can face is running low but there are still some very interesting opponents left to face. One of them has a boulder we tried to use in the last game and failed spectacularly at while the other has a level that’s a lot more difficult than it first appears, one where our normal defensive strategy isn’t going to work out so well. Neither are foes we should underestimate, of course, so we’ll need to race faster and more skilfully than ever before if we are to prevail.
This video contains another example of the AI getting stuck, this time in a very different manner to previous instances. The layout of the level is mostly to blame for this one, though that really shouldn’t be the case. Commenters have speculated the when certain traps are placed in particular locations, the AI can sometimes alter its route to go straight down pits or fail jumps in an effort to ‘avoid’ the obstacle I’ve placed before them. I can certainly see how that could happen – even though it really shouldn’t – but this time I think it’s just the AI not being great at something integral to its level. While that’s a big shame, I love being able to capture things like this in my videos and so I’m glad it occurred when it did.
