In this episode we take the guest boat beyond the reef to investigate the whirlpool, but our boat is immediately drawn in and crashes upon the reef. We awaken in a bed, and when we head upstairs the missing friar appears and tells us he rescued us from the water. We can see that some sort of building has been revealed, and upon investigation, we are transported to some sort of underground area that appears to be a series of teleportation devices that connect faraway places. A skeleton stands before us, but immediately flees. We give chase, and he leads us to a large room with a familiar eye-shaped structure. A dark mage is in the middle of an incantation when our presence disrupts him. He seems to be trying to open a passage, and we begin battle against him and his minions. After laying waste to the enemy, the voice from the Pool of the Ancients can be heard. It tells us that we stand before the Shining Path, a way to access the lands where the descendants of the Ancients live. Before the Spirit can open the path for us, the dark mage uses the last of his strength to cave in the ceiling, blocking the Path. The Spirit tells us that there is another Path we can use, but we must flee, as the area is collapsing around us. Barely escaping, the pool fills back in, returning the town of Waral to normalcy. We visit with Shell, the mermaid, who offers to show us around should we return. Then we speak with the king, who tells us our ship has been repaired. With no time to lose, the Shining Force prepares to set sail once again.
