Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall - Part 3 - Ricky Goes To Hell and Steals from the Terminator
We continue our aimless wander into town as we try to figure exactly what we are even doing in the town or where we are going. The first order of business is to sell things, which means we get to get ripped off. Unlike Arena, we can't barter, so we just have to accept the terrible amounts they propose or never sell anything. What a great game this is.
Of course, he also gave me a quest, so that gave me some reason to forgive him. We then began our quest across the city to hunt for a random house so that I can do something that could not be described in the text. We do this by getting lost and going completely in the wrong direction. Still, there are some awesome things, like a monkey that meows and a cart we can't buy, that make us totally feel like our exploration was worth it.
We reach the house in question, only to find out that the house is probably not the house we are looking for. We then go to another house, which isn't the house either, only to find out that the residence we were looking for was indeed the first house. But we got a new problem... the door is locked. Being super sneaky, I start trying to bash down the door while a guard patrols nearby. We end up with some problems, only to find out that we actually were trying to break into the wrong house and that the door was unlocked. Something tells me this is only something I would do. In any event, it appears that we wasted a bunch of time on a quest we couldn't actually receive for whatever reason. Well, I feel totally ripped off.
We head back to the tavern with the hope of finding a quest we can actually do. Finding our way to a jewelry store, we get a proposition to stand as a bodyguard against some thugs. Seeing a chance to get some real money, we accept. We then head to the house to check it out, then realize we didn't leave much time to rest.
I manage to head back to the inn and rest an hour before going back to the house, though then after sitting around and waiting we realize we have a few hours to kill. I try to head back, only to find out that Daggerfall has been invaded with ghosts! I quickly run back to the house and prepare to kill the assassins, then just wait for morning.
The problem is that the assassins never appear. At least, not visually. Next thing we know, we are getting barraged full of arrows and I can't seem to find the burglars. I try to call the police to help, though they just seem keen on killing me for sleeping on the ground for a few seconds in a house while the murdering burglars go free. We eventually come to the realization that they are trapped outside the walls. I think the pretty lady is going to die and we cannot help her since we cannot reach them to help. We end up giving up on our pursuit.
Only one problem. The ghost is still waiting outside. It approaches, only to arrest me for pickpocketing arrows off the archer when they flew into my body. We try to argue our innocence, but apparently we are without justice and are thrown outside the city walls in the dead of night. Another ghost slowly approaches...
Only to die seconds later. How it died I did not know, but hearing "Vengeance" be yelled throughout the world, I start trying to find a healing spot. The only problem is that resting just causes the guards to start pursuing me once again, now through an empty gray wasteland. We keep traveling in it, though the problem we quickly face is that though the fog of war stops in front of our face, we keep running into the walls of Daggerfall. The map loops and we are trapped in a place with pursuing guards and yelling ghosts.
Getting lost in the gray between the Daggerfalls, we come across a flying thing. We try to get closer, only for the flying thing to disappear and be replaced with a rat. The game keeps freezing as it keeps telling me that I am entering the town.
Wandering some more in the gray between the worlds, we find ourselves face to face with the Terminator. I proceed to rob from him. He freaks out, then stands there and stares out into the gray fog. Eventually he becomes more aggressive and starts to chase me across the void of insanity.
Next thing I know we are getting lights again and the Terminator robot has disappeared. We look around and find the city walls over a red set sky. The people nearby are marching in legions, aimlessly wandering outside the walls and often stopping with no real purpose. Nexus says it best, we find our way to Hell.
We then get a random letter that leads us to a random inn that leads us to the continuation of the plotline. We just need to look in the random palaces of three leaders. Well, that was an interesting excursion.
