No matter how far into a game you are, all it takes is one thing to turn every aspect of said game on its head, in this case a change of protagonist. Some games have the different characters remain functionally identical but not this one; with the tiny barbarian a captive of an unknown and highly advanced forced, the only person that can save him is the very one he initially set out to save, the tiny barbarina. She's not only managed to find a fully enclosed exoskeleton capable of navigating in space - how she found it and how she got it into space is another pair of questions entirely, ones we aren't going to get the answer to - she's figured out how to use an advanced laser rifle capable of dishing out death at range by pew pews, the greatest method of death dealing.

Having your primary method of attacks be ranged changes how the game plays drastically, alowing the developers to throw threats at you which would be far harder for a swordsman to take on. It allows for different puzzles where you need to position yourself correctly to avoid peril, all the while knowing that if an enemy does close the distance you'll be in serious bother. There'll naturally also be situations where being a ranged combatant is a severe disadvantage, namely that we aren't able to deflect shots like the tiny barbarian could. All in all, this change in both playable character and the setting are huge positives to me that have only made the game better, plus who doesn't like firing pew pews?

The only way to find the tiny barbarian is to fight our way through the futuristic defences of this facility and who knows, perhaps along the way we'll figure out just why he was kidnapped in the first place.

Pew pew!
