You may have thought that the game has sprung enough trap-filled levels on you. You may think that at this late stage of the game they certainly wouldn’t have another one to throw at you.

You would be wrong in that assumption, oh so very wrong.

The final few levels of the game are where the kid gloves come off and the true challenge begins. Traps are placed within traps and in close proximity to one another, meaning that you can trigger one then back up blindly into another when trying to deal with the first. This makes sense considering the story, as Doomguy is so close to the source of the invasion that his foes are throwing nearly everything they can at him to stop him and my, do they throw everything and the kitchen sink at you.

Now more then ever you need to be cautious. Treat every ‘gift’ the game gives you as one barbed with poison, ready to lash out at you for daring to go for a health pickup or ammunition. You’ll have plenty of ammo in reserve by now so you might be tempted not to go for what’s in the final levels, but you’ll need to if you want to get through the final few levels with enough firepower to clear the final one comfortably. Each piece of ammo is a risk but one well worth taking, for you never know when you might need it for the next trap around the corner.
