While there are many types of deck and strategies that people employ in this game, almost all of them work towards reducing your opponent’s health total to zero. Working out the most efficient and likely way to do that consistently is the preview of many deck builders and how many of the most interesting, complicated and effective meta decks come into existence. Be it through dominating the board with board clears and weapons, going for the value game and out-valuing your foe or wearing them down with wave after wave of cheap minions in aggro, there are many routes to reducing your opponent’s health total.

And then there’s face hunter.

Face hunter has a deceptively simple motto: if in doubt, go face. Almost everything in a face hunter deck is geared towards attacking your opponent’s health total and with odd hunter, this is even more so. Your hero power deals an additional point of damage, allowing you to outpace the healing of a priest or the armour gain of a warrior. With that along with a selection of spells and minions focused on dealing damage quickly, you can catch slower decks off guard and defeat them before they can even get going. Going face is not enough however; you must learn that sometimes trading is the best way to go face, lest you throw away a victory that might’ve been yours.

It’s a high risk, high reward deck that can be shut down by even a little healing or losing the board but win or lose, the matches are at least short.
