Let's Replay X-COM UFO Defence #28: Cutting off the Supply
220Supply ships are an interesting type of ship to deal with in X-COM. Although they’re large UFOs, they aren’t that well armed and are typically crewed with aliens that aren’t very threatening. Even better, they’ve got three power sources that are well spaced out. Unless you’re really unlucky you should get at least one of them if you shoot down a supply vessel. If you see them flying around, it’s a sure sign that there’s an alien base somewhere which will be revealed if you follow them to where they land. While taking out alien bases is a good idea, there are reasons why you wouldn’t want to, namely that you can farm the landed supply ships for elerium and things to sell. The positive score you get from them will far outweigh the negative for an alien base remaining on Earth.
Supply ships are three floor vessels with two elevators, each leading to a different floor. All three floors are rather cramped, filled with narrow passages and lots of places for aliens to hide. If you have sectoids on board then you also need to contend with their psionic powers, though they shouldn’t be that dangerous by this point. Taking it slow and steady when clearing these ships is essential, ensuring that each level is devoid of aliens before moving upwards. Making sure that you have enough time units to deal with the aliens on the other side of doors is also essential, as the aliens love to wait just behind them on the top floor.
