There are many advantages waiting for day missions, but they’re balanced by the ultimate counterweight: time. Waiting for the ideal mission conditions takes up time and the longer you wait, the more likely it is that you’ll run out of time to do the missions at all. Worse yet, time spent waiting is time that the aliens can use to launch even more missions, potentially leaving you unprepared for dealing with the crash sites that come about from shooting them down. If not kept under control, this can lead to a domino effect that culminates in you being unable to keep on top of the many things vying for your attention.

In this instance, waiting for the daylight hours to take out the supply ships made the missions a lot easier, though we’ll never know if I missed the opportunity to get more elerium from the other crash site. What’s done is done however, so it’s best to look forward to the one remaining mission site that we can deal with. Even if we don’t find any elerium, we’ll be getting a lot of positive score for the council report which will surely result in even more bonus funding. We could certainly use the extra money to put a tend in the growing maintenance costs of our bases, for both the facilities and the people working in them.
