In order to unlock the Teeth Child achievement, you must get Joel to join your party. On Day 2, your neighbor's apartment door will be open across from you, and this is where Joel and his family live. Head inside.

From the main room, head into the southwest room. Grab the Teddy Bear here, and then leave the room. Go to the room directly north of where you exit, which is the bathroom. Speak with Joel by the mirror, and tell him that you are his neighbor. Now, keep asking Joel questions until he turns around and starts to fight you. Open your inventory and use the Teddy Bear (Fuzzy) to throw it to Joel, calming him down. Give him a hug when prompted to, but make sure you have some HP because it will hurt a bit. Joel will give you the doorknob.

Leave the bathroom, and go straight across the main room to the door opposite. Use the doorknob on it and head through the door. There is a monster in the south of this area. This is Madison, the mother of the family. Walk into her to initiate combat and kill her. After the fight, leave back to the main room, and go back into the bathroom where Joel is.

Interact with Joel again to start a conversation, and when prompted, choose "You can't stay here." Joel will not know what to do, but tell him that he can come with you, and he will, joining your party and unlocking the achievement!
