I think the thumbnail for this installment unintentionally underscores a pretty significant aspect to these x2 puzzles that doesn't readily come to mind, but will prove significantly handier as puzzle complexity increases again.

The special clear patterns of puzzles are a bit like the special pieces that stumble into the queue once in awhile in that a narrower arrangement of tiles than normal, which has the important precipitated impact of dropping all the off-color blocks together, which previously wasn't even a consideration, seeing as how the puzzle would be over at that point, Zero to Three notwithstanding.

So, while the obvious implication of these earlier x2 puzzles has been that more space gets "used up" as not much negative space filler was available to fall into place and help clean up afterward. There will probably be some puzzles that leave a player worse off than others, and I should that the more troublesome offenders in this regard will be those least aided by gravity after the first clear... that is, those constructs which are largely horizontal in nature, like the Alligator or the UFO.

Of course, it might seem incredibly foolish for me to try to predict what will come in that I've already done it... it's even more foolish than that already sounds because I'm likely as not to actually be wrong, so we'll see about any of that...
