The Jagermech is a dream for those who love autocannons, and I am a big fan of autocannons. I am just very proficient with them, and I prefer direct fire weapons. The autocannon 2 has very good range of 720 meters, and it has a very good rate of fire of 1 shot per second. In Mechwarrior Online, autocannon 2s do create a significant amount of heat if you group fire them in 2s or 4s. In previous versions of Mechwarriors, the autocannon 2s and 5s were weapons that created almost no heat, so you didn't need any heat sinks. In Mechwarrior 4, I would group 4 to 8 autocannon 2s together, and it could do significant damage at long ranges. I would never use one extra heat sink, and the heat would not go up more than 1%.

You have to configure the autocannon 2s differently in this game, or you will have serious heat problems. The way I configure it is in 2s, so group 1 would have 2 acs, and the next group would have another 2. You would shot one group and the next, so you can create a constant stream of depleted uranium down range. Another configuration is to chain fire all 4 acs in one group, and group all 4 in the next group. When you have to use all 4 ac2s, you can fire group 2 in all fire. When the heat gets to the point of shutting down your mech, switch to group 1 chain fire. All firing 4 ac2s can do about 8 points of damage per second, and a ac10 can do do 10 points of damage in 3 seconds. 4 ac2s can do 24 points of damage in 3 seconds. If you fire all 4 ac2s at the same time, you can get a lot of heat build up, so you can sustain it for about 7 seconds. That is the only problem with grouping small caliber autocannons. The quad autocannon 2s remind me of quad 20mm cannons used during World War 2 on German half tracks. During World War 2, the quad 20mms were used against light armored, and unarmored ground targets during WW II. The autocannon 2s are 20mm to 35mm auto cannons, the autocannon 5s are 50mm to 57mm automatic cannons.

On the Jagermech mod I used a XL 280 engine on it, so I could mount all 4 ac2s and have enough ammo. I did add about 3 double heat sinks, and added a lighter structure so I could have free up more tonnage. As for the armor, I added all 422 out of 422 points of armor. The XL 280 engine really is lighter than the standard engines, so it is more efficient per tonnage. All the Clan mechs have XL engines in them, and Clan weaponry is lighter than Inner Sphere weaponry of comparable type. Not only that, clan equipment of similar mass takes up less space and volume. In this game, I am just trying to compensate for the lack of technology available in the early 31st century which is when this game is set. Buying the latest technology is going to cost you a lot of C bills or MC(mech credits).

Have fun with this mod, it has a lot of firepower, and it is a great mech for harassing enemies at long range. Make sure you have enough ammunition, because it will disappear quickly!
