Megaman X Mavericks Final is a rpg fangame by maddrex77 set in the Megaman X universe. Included are remastered versions of the first three games and a brand new fourth chapter depicting events that happened after the third game.

If you wish to download game, head here to pick it up (and to check out the original versions of Mavericks 1-3 if you so desire):

Current version: 1.01

Last maverick to bring down.

Enemies here are weak to Slash Claw. Besides being a very cheap move to spam, Zero one hit kills just about everything he touches with his Fire Saber. Same for X and Slash Claw spam.

Two things of importance...first, the entrance into the second portion of the stage is a bit hidden. As you're traversing outside, look for a frozen Repliforce panel as you're climbing down ladders. The entrance will be directly under that panel as you walk left through the wall.

The second thing of importance is much more significant though. When you get to a room with chutes that lead you to another portion of the stage, you'd want to take the third one from the right to get to Walrus. More importantly though, I unequip X's weapon and helmet because if you ignore the chutes and keep walking west, you'll find the final piece of the Ultimate X Armor.

Guess what that means? X is seriously about to give it to every enemy. Hard.

Now, I did mention there was one nerf to the Ultimate X Armor. In the original version of Mavericks 2 & 3, assembling the Ultimate Armor resulted in all of X's stats getting capped. Level, hp/we/stats, you name it, he maxed it out. The remasters removed this perk.

On the plus side, he does get a sprite change, both in battle and out of battle, a new portrait, and a new skill, Giga Laser.

Giga Laser has X teleporting, then dive bombing his enemies from above with his trademark Nova Strike. That'd be destructive enough on its own, but X decides to add something else to the mix...a giant ass laser. Hey, if it worked for him in Day of Sigma and X8, it sure as hell is gonna work here!

As for the damage? Giga Laser hits every enemy for ~1100 damage on a very bad roll. Tops out around 1400 or a bit more. Basically, normal enemies are dead.

The best part? Giga Laser costs a big fat 0 to use.

Sadly, I will not be using it beyond the one fight to demo it off. Mostly to keep a semblance of difficulty.

Even then, there's still going to be one thing I'll make use of and that's the other reward, the Ultimate Buster, X's best weapon. Not as much attack as Zero's Fire Saber (Fire Saber has 400 attack, Ultimate Buster has 300), but still, it's more than enough to finish any normal enemy that lives through a Fire Saber hit.

Now, there was a bug present in 1.01, but is fixed as of the recently released 1.02 version of the game. The reason I unequipped X before claiming the final capsule was that, while the game does remove all of X's equipment itself, what it didn't do was remove the stat boosts said equips provided. Really significant if you had a Helmet MkIV on as that basically ensures his Cpu stat would be maxed. Even funner if you have one of the speed boosting boots on him, turning him into a speed demon or, if you wanted, giving the boots to Zero.

Anyways, enough talk there, how about Frost Walrus?

Damage wise, he's hitting for around 250-350 to both characters each time he acts. Pretty big when the max hp for both characters on my end has just passed beyond the 1.2k mark. Considering he's not slow on his feet either and you could get into trouble if he's got any capability of double turning you. If not, it just means you have to pay hawklike attention to your hps and heal as needed.

Once the boss folds, you'll pick up Frost Tower. Hits all enemies, effective on cave types, costs 50 WE.

After the last of the second wave of mavericks fall, it's revealed Vile has escaped to some sort of satellite which seems to be the source of what's powering the moon's shield. Looks like the duo's gonna be taking it to Vile next time!
