Well, that last stage was going to be the last one for this area, but Sigma decided to go to a fifth stage and the team's gotta follow him.

Attack wise, bring Ice Wave, Glow Laser, and Rising Fire along with Dark Flash & Aiming Laser. Enemy formations here are all going to be weak to one of the first three moves so it'll be easy to crush them if you know their weakness.

As for Sigma, he thinks having evil energy is going to help him destroy X. Apparently he didn't see how every OTHER boss trying this same thing ended up getting vaporized and, as such, gets Dark Flash'd over and over again until his body gets turned into space dust.

Of course though, Sigma always has a second form of some kind. After his virus form runs into the next screen and the team chases him, he decides on a plan.

Now honestly, I thought Vile's dumb charging shenanigans to destroy X & company in the last game was stupid by evil guy standards and couldn't get any worse. Sigma however manages to one-up Vile on the stupidity meter with what is, quite possibly, the DUMBEST plan of all time.

What's that plan you ask? Oh, nothing special, just asking the guy he's been wanting to destroy for eternity to join him and try to rule the universe together. Yes, I am not lying. He asked X to join him.

Really now Sigma, what makes you think he's just going to drop everything he's fought for over his long career and just join you with no bells attached? Pretty sure X wants you dead.

Once Sigma realizes this plan was a damned bust from the first word, he decides that X isn't needed in "our" new world and decides to turn himself into his Velguarder form from X1. He can do some decent damage in this form so you'll want to watch those hp levels and heal as needed. Aiming Laser is his weakness here.

After Sigma checks out (Surely to come back before the end, given this game's track record), everyone escapes as the giant robot turns into a pile of scrap. The war's finally over and we can all go home now. Just need to ask Duo what his plans are now.

Duo plans to stick with the team because...Sigma wasn't the source of the evil energy. Well damn!

Oh, and a bunch of new...."friends"...warp in. Four of them are known as the Stardroids with a bonus Blizzard Buffalo thrown in for good measure. Turns out we're not quite done with the risk of random invasions just yet, a shame

Once the new set of evil folk take off, everyone regroups at base. Turns out they've staked a claim in space and its time to chase after them and do the usual destruction of evil dance.

Shortly before that happens, Duo mentions another signal from space, but this one is coming from someone that's not infected and goes by the codename CL. Doesn't take too much to realize that it's Ciel and she's calling for help. Where she is out there is unknown right now though.

With that, the second set of stages come into play with a pretty awesome rendition of Megaman 3's stage select music. We'll see who gets axed first next time.
