MiSTer FPGA - Demon's Crest (デモンズブレイゾン 魔界村 紋章編) / SNES (Super Famicom)
0First day trying Demon's Crest on SNES, and I really enjoyed this one. In this video I got the quickest ending, which is also considered a bad ending, in one credit. If you can figure out the order to do things in this game, there are a couple other endings you can get, and many more abilities and buffs for Firebrand, the Red Arremer you play as.
This is a spin-off from the Ghosts 'n Goblins series, and sequel to the two previous Gargoyle's Quest games on Game Boy and NES/Famicom. Luckily, this game is much more accessible than the GnG series, and should not pose such a barrier of entry to most players.
Excellent pixel art, music and gameplay in this one. The Mode 7 overworld map is a nice touch and flying around with Firebrand to the different levels, shops and secret areas is a fun interlude to the action stages. There is a Metroidvania style vibe to the backtracking and amount of secrets in the levels, and the stages aren't incredibly long so its pretty simple getting back to the places you want to explore further. I'll definitely be returning to try for the other endings at some point.
