MiSTer FPGA - Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'n Ghosts) / PC Engine SuperGrafx (Turbografx-16)
0This is a short one, mainly because I suck at this game. Ever since I was young this game has been kicking my ass, though I have been making a bit of progress lately. This is my first time getting past the stage 2 boss with one credit, and I actually made it fairly far into the 3rd stage. I don't know the patterns for that area with the blue flames and tongues, so that will be the next hurdle in my quest to one day beat this. The only GnG game I've ever beaten was the SNES entry in the series, and that was just a year ago.
This one really loves to give you shit weapons at the worst possible moment, or block your way with them, which sometimes makes it seem that just killing yourself to avoid them is the best option. Brutal. I'll post updated runs as I learn more of the game, but I'm not using save states, guides or watching pro-play videos to get better.. so it may take a while. Not many games are as punishing as this series, and it certainly lives up to its reputation.
The SuperGrafx port is stellar. Excellent audio-visual presentation with tight and responsive controls, which the PC Engine/Turbografx is known for.
