Hello and thank you for watching my video of, what I consider to be, the final of the classic Nancy Drew games. Though the series eventually continued, the style and feel (through change in engine and team) are very different after Sea of Darkness.

This is game no. 32 in the series and was released in 2015. Though another great game in terms of modern animation, this game calls back to the earlier games in a few ways: it makes subtle references to past games, but also includes DIALOGUE OPTIONS! This is, without a doubt, the thing I am most excited about. As a player, we have regained our autonomy during conversations: we are given choices for how to respond to many conversations, and it is truly WONDERFUL.

The game also includes some fun puzzles, and there’s more variability as far as which puzzles to solve when; the game is a little less linear than other games in this respect.

A few pet peeves include Soren’s lack of an accent (despite the reasoning given), and some mispronunciation of some Icelandic words. It would have been great to have had a guide for how to pronounce letters and letter combinations. It also would have been neat to see the Icelandic alphabet written out.

With that, I leave you to watch this video of the last “classic” Nancy Drew Mystery Adventure game. Thank you and enjoy!
