Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall - Comparing the novel (2005) with the game (2013)
Welcome welcome!
In this video I compare the 2005 Nancy Drew Girl Detective novel Uncivil Acts with the 2013 HeR Interactive Nancy Drew Adventure game Ghost of Thornton Hall. These two stories both feature elements relating to the Civil War. Beyond that, the tales are completely different from one another.
HeR Interactive did manage to bring in the main focus of the novel to their game in a small way, while also taking advantage of the divisions between characters in the book and incorporating that in an important way in the game. However, that is the extent to which they used their source material. Characters, events, locations, and even the plot are unique from one another. As I often find myself saying with these later games, it would have been nice to see more elements from the book included in the game. These could be minor things, such as character names; alas, we rarely see that carried over from book to game at this point in HeR Interactive's history.
Thank you for watching this analysis. I hope you find it interesting!
