Nancy Drew: The Captive Curse - Comparing the novel (1981) with the game (2011)
Hi viewers!
In this video, I attempt a comparison between HeR Interactive's 24th game, The Captive Curse, with the 64th Nancy Drew novel, Captive Witness. As you'll quickly find, the two stories are nothing alike. This video might as well not be called a "comparison" video.
The novel is a very interesting story, and is quite political. I think it would have been difficult to turn it into a successful game. I also think HeR Interactive ought to have chosen a different book to claim that they based this game on (because, if we're honest, it was written entirely by the team and not inspired by a particular Nancy Drew novel). And, had they found a monster-themed book, how much would the game have been altered?
As it is, should HeR Interactive have claimed it was inspired by a book at all? What are your thoughts?
Thank you for watching!
