Quest 3s
For the longest time they have known about a Quest lite on the way, a cheaper but less effective Meta Quest 3.
Alot of people getting into the VR Space aren't very comfortable spending over $500 on a headset.
So the decision to make a lite model which is more affordable is a great idea intro new people to the market of VR & AR.
Well over the last couple of days, these images have been floating all over the internet
The person who leaked these images claims that they were shown these graphics during a meta user research zoom meeting.
Don't get me wrong, this is not verified leaks nor is it a verified leaker.
But the graphics look highly professional matching metas marketing.
Also the fact that trustworthy leakers have spoken about quest 3 lite since the quest 3 launch.
It's got a supposed 1832x1920 resolution & Pixel density of 20.
In comparison it has the same resolution as the quest 2 and only slightly larger ppd.
The main feature of this would be the clarity from the pancake lenses and its Color passthrough AR Capabilities for mixed reality.
The price would have to be significantly cheaper for it to compete with the quest 3
But not so high that it's worth just getting quest 2.
Their is unique gap in between the two which this could fill
With all the hype around vision pro, if they offered this for around $300 it could actually convince a lot of new people to try mixed reality.
PS VR 2
Last week we got an announcement about playstation and sony making their PS VR 2 compatible with PC VR.
Playstation have been heavily focused in recent years in releasing their exclusive games to the pc market.
We all know the specs of the PS VR 2 are incredible. 4K Oleds, Haptic controllers, it's just great specs, its biggest downfall was that it only worked with ps5.
So this is fantastic news, they will probably sell an adapter allowing you to use it with your PC & they will probably sell their PC exclusives on Stream. Making it steam compatible.
So that's fantastic news however, we got news that Sony group corp has paused production of the PSVR 2 headsets until it clears its backlog of unsold units.
Which makes sense as their Shipments have declined every quarter since release.
Which ofcourse, is probably due to the PS5 Exclusivity
Not only is the ps5 a pricey device, people would rather buy the stand alone quest 3 that has pc vr capabilities for the same price.
Hopefully sony is learning from this that limiting their potential audience will conclude to less sales,
With the PC VR capabilities, I'm certain they will see an increase in sales with the correct marketing.
Pico 4s
A while ago I reported pico stopped development of the pico 5 to create a new device capable of competing with the Vision pro.
Then we found out they are also creating a Pico 4S after they trademarked the name.
We dont know if this is a Pro version of the already Pico 4 or a lite version of the device.
Their are rumours of the snapdragon xr2 gen 2 chipset being in this device, which is the same processor found in the quest 3
What we do have is 3D models of the Pico 4S Controllers, which were apparently found in the pico connect PC Client Data.
Pretty cool to see all controller going down this design root
Also bytedance are teasing their pico motion trackers 2.0
Which is expect to release during the month of april
They are even offering to send people in europe the trackers via discord for testing.
I feel like we are about to get some heavy announcements from pico and bytedance soo ill make sure to keep you updated here on this channel
