0Towers of Aghasba: is a new ambitious open-world sandbox game currently in development. It opens with a unique premise. You begin as the youngest member of the Shimu tribe, shipwrecked on the shores of Aghasba, a once-thriving land of your ancestors. Your mission is to reclaim and restore Aghasba, a land now haunted by dangerous creatures and plagued by barren soil. As an aspiring architect, you’re one of the first to explore this lost territory, using your tribe's powerful Amity Crystal to harness a special life force to heal the land.
Unlike most survival games, Towers does not feature a traditional character creation process. Instead, you’re immediately introduced to fellow survivors, who provide lore, quests, and a sense of camaraderie. This departure from the "lone survivor" trope offers a refreshing dynamic where NPCs are allies rather than threats. The whimsical, dark-fantasy tone of the game is reinforced by the intriguing designs of monsters, animals, plants, and buildings, creating a sense of wonder as you explore.
While you’ll still need to gather resources for tools and survival, the game encourages growing with the environment rather than exploiting it. Early in the game, your primary task is to find a new home for your tribe. When faced with a wasteland, you’re given the chance to plant a mysterious seed. This seed, filled with latent power, grows quickly, transforming the barren landscape into a vibrant oasis teeming with life.
A key gameplay mechanic revolves around Amity, a resource that you collect by nurturing nature—planting trees, feeding animals, and generally taking care of the environment. In contrast, harmful actions like killing animals or chopping down trees will cause you to lose Amity. Balancing these actions is essential as you build your community and restore the land. Different types of seeds create distinct biomes, each with unique plants and creatures to discover, adding layers of complexity to your exploration.
The satisfaction of watching the land flourish as you progress is one of the game’s most rewarding aspects. Beyond improving buildings and tools, witnessing the transformation of the environment provides a deeper sense of accomplishment.
That said, while Towers of Aghasba offers a generous amount of content in its early access form, there are still bugs and missing features. Issues like missing assets, UI glitches, and graphical/audio problems are present, but the developers have been actively releasing patches to address these concerns. As of now, five patches have already been rolled out, indicating the team's commitment to improving the game.
If you’re looking for a more polished experience, it might be worth waiting a few months for the kinks to be ironed out, or even holding off until the 1.0 release. Nevertheless, the potential for Towers to evolve into something truly fantastic is clear, and there's already plenty of enjoyment to be had. Hope you njoy my video.
