I enter Pastoria City, and in this video, I explore the Great Marsh, which is where the Safari Game is at. I do not like how the Safari Game is handled in this game, they went back to how the Safari Zone was in the original games, but there is a useful TM we can pick up there, and some Pokémon that can be encountered there.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

The reason why I don't like the Safari Zone is because you cannot weaken the Pokémon to catch them, you have to throw Bait, which makes Pokémon easier to catch, but makes them more likely to run, or throw Mud, which makes Pokémon harder to catch, but they are likely to stay. I liked how the Safari Zone was handled in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, where you can battle the wild Pokémon there, but in this game, they went back to how the Safari Zone was in the original games, this is a huge step back to how Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire improved the Safari Zone.
When you talk to the Parasol Lady, you get some Stickers from her, those are based on Barry's starter Pokémon, so it's the type that has the type advantage against your starter Pokémon.
There are some good items you can get, like a Toxic Plate, and you can get the Hidden Move Defog there, and more Pokémon show up in the Grand Underground, like Munchlax. You can use the binoculars to view Pokémon, and there is a chance you can see rare Pokémon, like Golduck, Roselia, Skorupi, Croagunk, and Carnivine. You can get Bibarel, Wooper, Quagsire, Budew, and a few other Pokémon in the Great Marsh. In Platinum, you would encounter Tangela, Yanma, and Tropius in the Great Marsh as well, and you can't find them in the Grand Underground, you can find Tangela and Tropius in the Grand Underground in the aftergame, and interesting trivia, they weren't obtained in the original Diamond & Pearl, despite Tangela getting an evolution in those games, so Tangrowth was the only non-Event Pokémon to not be obtainable in its debut generation until Platinum, so you had to transfer a Tangela from the GBA games and teach it Ancient Power in order to obtain Tangrowth in Diamond & Pearl.
Going over the encounters, Marill is a common encounter, it can only be found in the Great Marsh at this point, I recommend Huge Power, and it does come with Aqua Tail and Play Rough, and it evolves in one level, so it is ready to go, and it even gets Superpower as a level up move, I recommend Marill for that reason, and very rarely you can find its pre-evolved form Azurill there, but I recommend catching it as a Marill, so that way it is ready.
I will go over Skorupi in this video, as you were able to access it in the Grand Underground, Skorupi is Poison/Bug, but it becomes Poison/Dark when it evolves, and it can relearn the Elemental Fangs. Skorupi's best stat is Defense, and it has good Attack and Speed, but its late evolution level is a drawback to it, and it does come with Knock Off and Bug Bite when caught, and it does get some good level up moves like Cross Poison and Night Slash, which pair well with Sniper, its Ability. As for Skorupi in the Grand Underground, it can come with some interesting Egg Moves, like Poison Tail, Agility, and Screech, and I don't remember if you can find its evolved form Drapion before beating the main story.
Then for Croagunk, this is another Pokémon you can find in the Grand Underground, this Poison/Fighting-type Pokémon will have Revenge and Venoshock when caught, and it learns Poison Jab through level up. If you caught a Croagunk in the Grand Underground, it can come with some good Egg Moves, like Cross Chop, Fake Out, Bullet Punch, or Vacuum Wave. It evolves at Level 37, but I am not sure if its evolved form Toxicroak can be encountered before the aftergame, but it's a decent Poison-type option.
Carnivine is exclusive to the Great Marsh, it is a Grass-type with Levitate, which does kind of seem redundant, as Carnivine is already resistant to Ground-type moves, so it doesn't really need an immunity to them. It's got well rounded stats, Attack is its best, and it does learn moves like Stockpile, Leaf Tornado, Crunch, Seed Bomb, and a few others, and you can teach it Swords Dance to boost its Attack, specially once it gets Power Whip. I wouldn't put it high up in my recommendations, as Carnivine is not an easy Pokémon to find, and it is outclassed by Roselia, who can also be found in the Great Marsh, and even outside the Great Marsh.
I wanted to show one Pokémon you can get with the Good Rod on Route 205, and that Pokémon is Finneon, it is kind of weak for a Water-type, and its evolved form has good Speed and Special Defense, but its attacking stats are quite below average, it can get Storm Drain for its Ability, and it can come with Water Pulse when caught, and it does get some nice utility moves like U-turn and Tailwind, but I wouldn't say it's the best Pokémon to add to your team.
