Pokémon Brilliant Diamond Playthrough 49: A Victorious Path
Here is Victory Road, this is a very long cave that I will have to go through if I want to get to the main Pokémon League building, and there are a lot of wild Pokémon there, so best to bring some Repels with you, and there are some Trainers there, I recommend being at least Level 50 when going through Victory Road, and make sure you have a Pokémon holding the Amulet Coin when fighting some Trainers.
As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description
I have decided to reveal my final team at this point, and the reason why I have been rotating around my team is so I don't overlevel the Trainers, the most notable is between the 3rd and 4th Gyms, where if you stick with the same team, you can overlevel the Trainers by 10 levels, and this is not fun when you are overleveled, and I stuck to the rule where I cannot go over the level of the upcoming Gym Leader's highest level Pokémon.
I did consider doing Platinum when finding a way to record DS games, but that never came to be, and this was the exact team I was planning to use, the difference is I would have used Gliscor and Froslass instead of Honchkrow and Ambipom, and with Lumineon, it was a tricky choice between that or Vaporeon. Ambipom was originally not going to be on the final team, but I chose it to fill in when looking for which types I needed. Roserade is the dedicated Special Attacker, Bronzong is the wall, Honchkrow is all about getting heavy hits, and with Super Luck, scoring critical hits with Night Slash, I wanted to bring Lumineon along, while it's not a strong Pokémon, I can find ways to make it work, while Infernape and Ambipom are my speedy attackers, Infernape being able to work both sides.
Victory Road has a bunch of tough Trainers, and there are some good items you can pick up, like Full Restores, Elixirs, and many others, and some good TM moves, like Stone Edge, Dragon Pulse, and Dark Pulse. The Trainers are worth fighting, as they provide good experience, and if you have the Amulet Coin, you can earn a lot of money, which you will need in preparation for the League, and the Pokémon that you will want to see are Blissey, Rampardos, Carnivine, Clefable, Torterra, Machamp, Chimecho, Gabite, and Empoleon. In Platinum, you would fight Pokémon like Gardevoir, Magnezone, Togetic, Mamoswine, Lickilicky, Dusknoir, Absol, Rhydon, Altaria, Porygon-Z, and Tangrowth.
There is a Razor Claw, which you can use to evolve Sneasel into Weavile when you level it up at night, and that is kind of late, in Platinum, you would get a Razor Claw at Team Galactic HQ as a hidden item after beating Cyrus.
When you exit Victory Road, there is a hidden Sky Plate, and it is time to enter the League, the moment you approach the guy guarding the door, Barry will come along, so make sure you heal before then, I will go over his team, starting with the team he has if you picked Chimchar.
Staraptor: Close Combat, Pluck, Rain Dance, U-turn (Focus Sash)
Roserade: Grassy Terrain, Petal Blizzard, Stun Spore, Shadow Ball (Black Sludge)
Heracross: Pin Missile, Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Thief
Rapidash: Smart Strike, Megahorn, Poison Jab, Flame Wheel (Expert Belt)
Snorlax: Covet, Yawn, Crunch, High Horsepower
Empoleon: Charm, Grass Knot, Brine, Flash Cannon (Quick Claw)
Here is his team if you picked Turtwig.
Staraptor: Close Combat, Pluck, Steel Wing, U-turn (Focus Sash)
Floatzel: Ice Fang, Crunch, Swift, Brine (Quick Claw)
Heracross: Pin Missile, Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Thief
Roserade: Grassy Terrain, Giga Drain, Toxic, Grass Knot (Big Root)
Snorlax: Covet, Yawn, Crunch, Hammer Arm
Infernape: Close Combat, Flame Wheel, U-turn, Shadow Claw (Expert Belt)
Here is his team if you chose Piplup.
Staraptor: Close Combat, Pluck, Sunny Day, U-turn (Focus Sash)
Rapidash: Smart Strike, Megahorn, Poison Jab, Flame Wheel (Expert Belt)
Heracross: Pin Missile, Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Thief
Floatzel: Ice Fang, Crunch, Swift, Brine (Quick Claw)
Snorlax: Covet, Yawn, Crunch, High Horsepower
Torterra: Earthquake, Wood Hammer, Roar, Stealth Rock (Leftovers)
Barry's team is really tough, but you should be able to do it if you have the correct counters to his Pokémon, but what I don't understand is why Quick Claw on Floatzel and not on Snorlax, because Floatzel has a base Speed of 115, I can understand it being useful on Empoleon, which isn't that fast anyway.
After beating Barry, make sure you prepare, as the Elite Four are really tough in this game, stock up on Full Restores, Max Potions, and Revives, I would recommend about 30 Max Potions, 15 Full Restores, and about 50 Revives, some other good items to get are Moomoo Milk and Hyper Potions, and if you planted enough Leppa Berries, you can use them to restore Power Points, specially on moves that have 5 or less, and I recommend training up to at least Level 60 before then.
